{Stairway Designs: A Focal Point in Every Room
Stairs are more than just a method of moving between levels; they are a important part of a building’s design. With so many designs to choose from, stairs can be tailored to meet the needs and styles of any space. Whether you’re working with a limited area or a large space, there’s a stairway design to suit your requirements.
{U-Shaped Stairway Designs: Combining Design and Utility
These staircases are known by their two parallel flights and a half-turn landing in the middle. This design is commonly seen in expansive homes or structures with plentiful height dimensions. U-shaped stairway designs are efficient, despite their grand and opulent appearance. A landing in the midway point of the stair can be used for both rest and aesthetics. This design is linked to opulence and is a popular choice in upscale or rustic homes.
{The Elegance of Curved Staircases
Curved staircases are characterised by their flowing lines that create a graceful, flowing motion. Curved stairs are easier to use than Spiral ones, as their open arc provides a more accessible climb. This style is often found in luxurious homes, historic buildings, or luxury hotels, where it serves as a design highlight. Building Curved stairs demands expert craftsmanship and is typically more high-end than other designs. The final product is a stunning architectural feature that adds sophistication to any environment.
{Floating Stairs: Combining Creativity and Style
The layout of Floating stairway designs involves treads that seem to suspend, achieved through hidden supports. The floating effect is created by attaching the steps to a hidden support, removing the need for bulky structures. This design is often used in sleek interiors to create a sense of spaciousness. The minimalist look of Floating staircases ensures that other aesthetic elements, such as lighting, can take centre stage. Although impressive, Floating staircases must be precisely engineered to maintain safety.
{Spiral Stairs: A Stylish Design
The structure of Spiral stairway designs involves treads that spiral around a helical pole in a spiral pattern. This style is perfect for small spaces, like patios, where traditional staircases are impractical. Spiral stairway designs can be made from wood, enabling a variety of design choices. Despite their space-saving design, Spiral staircases can be more difficult for individuals with mobility issues or bulky loads. Their distinctive look makes them a common option for enhancing the visual interest of a space.
{The Practicality of Bifurcated Staircases
Bifurcated stairs are a impressive and balanced design often seen in mansions or commercial spaces. These stairs have a primary flight that divides into two flights at a landing, often bending in different ways. Bifurcated stairs are recognised for their impressive and striking design, making them perfect for grand entrances. The design allows for a harmonious look, often decorated with decorative banisters, chandeliers, or other design elements. Although they need significant space and a more significant budget, Bifurcated stairway designs are a classic symbol of sophistication.
{Stairway Designs: A Example of Individual Taste
Staircases are a powerful reminder of how design can combine utility with creative expression. Whether you prefer a simple Straight stairway design or an ornate U-shaped design, the possibilities are practically endless. Newcastle Council tackles dangerous staircases
More than 3,000 homes and 57 blocks of flats with potentially dangerous staircases have been identified by Newcastle City Council.
The ‘Ranch’ style staircase design, which features horizontal guarding, is classified as a category one hazard under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System.
Concerns about the staircases were raised last year, with residents warning that children use them as ladders or try to climb between the horizontal boarding.
